Courses Requirements
A course is a credit-rated which indicates a distinguishing block of learning. For a 3-credit course, students will spend 45 contact hours per a fifteen-week semester in class and are expected to allocate 90 hours outside of class for independent study. Both contact hours and hours for independent study for the course are around 135 hours.
Pre-requisite courses must be passed before a student can be registered on a subsequent course study path. Students who are waiting to re-sit are eligible to register for the following courses.
Co-requisite courses mean that a student is required to take another course simultaneous with enrollment in the course (s). Students knowing the information presented in the co-requisite is necessary for meeting the success criteria in the courses.
Google Classroom: an essential interactive stream of daily or weekly uploaded course material and assignment guide- lines and deadlines to supplement your study management and progress. It is also a platform for uploading an electronic copy for your work for feedback and final submission. The Course instructor will provide you with a Pin Number to become a member of the Classroom set for the course. With your University’s email account, you can subscribe to classroom application at the following address: https://classroom.google.com.
Course Catalog: a listing of the courses with their code and type category as well as a number of credit value that the university approved to be run and delivered by the faculties and their departments. You may find that the Course Catalog includes Course Description.
Course Description: a brief explanation of the aims, content, contours and expectation of the course and their role in meeting the major requirements. Typically, the description.
Course Guides (Syllabus): An indispensable resource that provides to you a breakdown of the semester, indicating the expected delivered week by week lecture and seminar topics, coursework requirements, as well as the suggested primary and secondary reading lists. Typically, the Course Guides also provide a list of all study materials in light of the context of the course in question. Course instructor distributes the Course Guide in the first week of teaching. The Syllabus should provide a final statement on the course content and structure as well as how the course is assessed in any given year. General Requirement Courses: Regardless of the Major selected in the Faculty of MCFA, you are expected to join other students from other faculties in lecture rooms and labs sessions for those courses that are classified as General Education Requirements (GER). The total credits for this type of courses are 30 (21 + 9 credits).
General Education Electives: You should be reminded that these courses (GEE) are selected solely from the Liberal Art fields. However, they are distinguished by the fact that you have a choice of selecting any of three courses, bearing nine credits, from any of the courses that may be on offer in a particular semester by the University.
For the GER, the Faculty of Business Administration delivers the MIT 200, and MAT 210, whilst the Faculty of Religions and Humanities delivers ARB 201, ARB 202, and CST 200. However, as for the GEE courses, you will have wider options of courses to select from. You need to contact your Advisor for further assistance and information about the best choice available for a particular semester.
