Mass Communication Institutions and Practices
This domain of Mass Media study provides a framework to understand the changing organization of mass communication institutions and structures and their implications.
Such a domain of study will allow the student to understand closely the mediated communication phenomena from different perspectives such as media sociology, policy studies, political science, media and communication economics, media and communication management and business analysis.
Despite that the domain is meant to enable students to look at the mediated communication realities from a theoretical perspective, it has a strong inclination to link theory with media and communication practices.
This is important in equipping the students with the necessary tools of critical analysis, comparative analysis, organizational and institutional analysis and political economics analysis in order to have a perceptive understanding of one’s own practices under employability conditions.
