Department of Computer Engineering and Technology
The Computer Engineering and Technology program prepares the student to become an effective computer engineer who has the necessary background and experience in the hardware and software aspects of computer systems. The graduating student will have a balanced education in important theoretical and foundational subjects as well as the latest cutting-edge hardware and software technologies that are used in today’s computer industry. Consequently, the student will be able to start a successful career in this important and rapidly growing field in the Lebanese and international industry. He or she will also be able to continue their graduate studies towards Masters and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering.
The Computer Engineering and Technology degree covers related courses in mathematics, digital logic, programming, microprocessors, electric circuits, electronics, operating systems, software engineering, communication, networking, and security. The student will also be able to focus on a particular area of interest in computer engineering by selecting related courses as technical electives.
The Computer Engineering and Technology department has modern laboratories. These laboratories allow the students to acquire important hands-on practical skills that are essential to prepare them to design and work on the latest computer and digital systems in the industry.
The Bachelor of Engineering degree program in Computer Engineering and Technology is accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education under decree # 826 dated June 2nd, 2017 & decree # 936 dated October 30th, 2017. Both decrees are published in the official gazette news No. 25, dated June 8th, 2017 and No. 53 dated November 9th, 2017, respectively. Upon graduation, our graduates are eligible to join the Order of Engineers and Architects in Lebanon.
To graduate with a BE degree in Computer Engineering and Technology, a student must complete:
- A total of 21 credits for general college requirements in all fields.
- A total of 21 credits of Mathematics requirements in all fields.
- A total of 11 credits of Science requirements.
- A total of 9 credits of liberal arts.
- A total of 75 credits for engineering core requirements as specified in the major.
- A total of 12 credits for technical electives selected from a list of courses specified in the major.
